The Great Outdoors Seminar Stage Presenters

Jeremie Brooks
Rapala Canada, Walleye Trolling
To the uninitiated, trolling is a simple tactic. In reality, trolling for walleye is a fickle game that involves much more than meets the eye. To successfully land fish, anglers need to possess a vast range of information on topics such as choosing productive lures, pinpointing choice water, species specific trolling speeds, hook setting techniques and much, much more. Jeremie Brooks has over 20 years experience running charters and fishing locally on Lake Erie and his Walleye Trolling seminar will help get you to the next level where you’re comfortable experimenting with the advanced methods needed to become truly proficient and successful. As a Charter boat owner, Ontario Sport Fishing Guides Association member and MNR licensed guide, Jeremie's years of experience, experimentation and on-water education will equip you with the tips and information you'll require to facilitate an excellent day on the water. Whether running surface lines or going deep, if you enjoy trolling, you won't want to miss this seminar.
Rocky Crawford
Pure Fishing, Berkley Bassin'
Rocky Crawford is Canada's undisputed champion of bass tournament fishing. In addition to being the only Canadian to have qualified for every National Classic ever held and the all time money winner, he has stood at the podium 4 times as the Chevy/Mercury Bass Tour Classic Champ and 3 times as the Bass Tour Angler of the Year. Being dedicated, adaptable and open to change is what helps him fill the livewell with bronzebacks, and Rocky wants to help you progress beyond being a good bass fisherman to becoming a great one. His seminar will map out the ingredients you’ll need to accelerate the learning curve and quickly improve your proficiency, and success, on the water. Searching for and experimenting with new products and techniques, spending the time to master them and knowing the right time to employ them are habits, and Rocky has a method to develop these habits faster. Becoming a great bass fisherman isn’t easy, but if you’ve got the will, Rocky will show you the way to get those big hogs out of any cover and into the livewell!
Pete Garnier
Choosing The Right Equipment
Pete Garnier lives in Lindsay Ontario, the gateway to the Kawartha Lakes region, and is the reigning 2009 Bass Mania Tournament Series “Team of the Year Champion”. Known in recent years as “Canada’s Frog Man”, he’s devoted 100’s of hours to perfecting top-water frog fishing; however, it has always been his versatility that has accounted for his tournament success, and a big part of that is having the right tools for the job!

Over the years, Pete has held Canadian National Records for 8 different fish species. Noted as one of Ontario’s best multi-species anglers, a huge part of his success is his understanding of the vast technological advances in fishing equipment available today. Choosing the right rod and reel for some anglers can be a daunting task; Pete’s going share some concepts and principles to help you sort through the endless isles of rods and the maze of display counters on the show floor to ensure that you get the perfect rod for the 2010 fishing season!

Aaron Shirley
Lake Ontario Salmon
Even as a young man, Aaron spent much of his time devoted to fishing and the outdoors. Shortly after Aaron received his driver’s licence, he joined several local fishing clubs and met many anglers who also shared his passion for fishing. Aaron has joined many fishing groups over the years. Through these fishing groups and the OMNR, Aaron devoted some of his time to help with stream rehabilitation efforts, garbage clean-ups, stocking programs and promotion of fish conservation. Today, Aaron is still active in local conservation projects close to his home.

At the age of 29, Aaron’s talent and enthusiasm for fishing the Niagara River and surrounding areas initiated him to start his first business venture under the name of Surely Fishing Guide Services. Word of Aaron’s new guide service and the high success rate for his clients quickly spread throughout North America and after a very short period of time, Aaron became known as a prominent Canadian authority on fishing the Niagara River. Even the veteran US fishing guides looked up to Aaron and learned from his unique style and aptitude that earned him a great deal of respect as an exceptional Niagara based fishing guide.

Aaron became very busy and ran a highly successful guide service for several years in the Niagara region. Public curiosity levels arose as to the reason for Aaron’s extraordinary achievements on the Niagara River. The increasing inquiries from anglers prompted him to start writing articles and take up public speaking to share his techniques for success, despite this information becoming available to his competition.

Aaron quickly grew in popularity, landing him several television opportunities as a guest on many fishing shows and was the subject of articles in popular fishing magazines such as In-Fisherman and Outdoor Canada. With his continued success, Aaron decided to put together proposals for notable fishing tackle companies and successfully convinced them he was a worthwhile investment.

Even with all his success, Aaron was not completely satisfied, as he had a dream to host a television show of his own. Armed with some exposure and experience behind the lens, Aaron formed a partnership with Barry Pringle to establish a popular television show called Getting Hooked with Aaron & Barry in 2004. Getting Hooked airs on the Outdoor Life Network.
